Georgia Fashion Footwear

Georgia

Georgia is a high heel shoe made with 3D printing. The platform combines the insole, midsole, outsole and shank of a conventional heel into a single 3D printed part. A digital mesh cushion is built into the platform to give springy support, and internal mechanisms allow the whole shoe to act as a spring, which reduces wear over time. A window on the underside allows the upper to be separated from the platform, so all parts can be recycled. On-demand printing allows a wide size range, from size 4 narrow to size 14 wide.

Plan Ta Modular Vase

Plan Ta

The designer was inspired by his childhood upbringing surrounded by natural plants and building blocks in his room. This sparked the question of whether there was a way to combine the two. By utilizing the unique properties of space filling polyhedrons and 3D printing, the designer was able to find an answer to this question. The solution manifested into Plan Ta, a system of magnetic planter building blocks which not only can hold a variety of indoor plants but can also be used to build and play with.

Anycubic Kobra 3D Printer

Anycubic Kobra

Anycubic Kobra is a compact 3D printer inspired by the modular design of firearms and fighter jets. The body is black, with dark blue and red details. An automatic leveling function places the platform in a horizontal position without manual setting, which simplifies operation. The print platform combines a PEI coating, spring steel and a soft magnetic layer, so the plate attaches instantly when put down, and printed models are removed by bending it. A 32-bit silent motherboard and an adjustable belt tensioner reduce noise during printing.

Bird's Sake Cup Cup to Refrain from Drinking

Bird's Sake Cup

Bird's Sake Cup is a drinking cup designed to limit alcohol intake. The cup holds only 10 ml of liquor, so a drink is taken in small amounts over time. The form recalls a small bird, and the beak holds a hole sized to release the liquor slowly. Bird's Sake Cup supports people who are sensitive to alcohol and people who need to reduce alcohol consumption. The cup is made of transparent acrylic by three-dimensional printing. It measures 40 mm in width, 130 mm in height and 60 mm in depth, and weighs 35 grams.

The Flett Roof Flashing

The Flett

The Flett is a roof flashing designed for standing seam architectural cladding. The flashing is produced by 3D printing in ASA plastic, measures 265 by 50 by 100 millimetres and is 2 millimetres thick. The form under-laps one cladding sheet, allows a change in direction, then overlaps the next sheet. The part is matched to the profile and colour of the roofing sheet, and the material is thermally stable, UV stable and nontoxic. The flashing can be installed in sequence by general trades, and aims to reduce leaks at difficult roof junctions.

Moon Table Light

Moon

This light plays an active role to accompany people in a working space from morning to the night. It was designed with people working environment in mind. The wire can be connected to a laptop computer or a power bank. The shape of the moon was made of three quarters of a circle as a rising icon from a terrain image made of stainless frame. The surface pattern of the moon reminds the landing guide in a space project. The setting looks like a sculpture in the daylight and a light device that comforts the tense of work at night.

Last Stand Office Gadget

Last Stand

Last Stand is a pencil extender designed to keep short pencils in use. The body is 3D printed in resin and measures 15 millimetres in diameter and 150 millimetres in height. A moving centre piece, machined from aluminium alloy on a five axis machine, allows the pencil to be repositioned after each sharpening. A cap holds the pencil in place, and the back point can be used for craft work. The body is printed in two parts, the metal piece is inserted, and both parts are joined with the same resin. The aim is to reduce pencil waste.

DefeXtiles Textile Fabrication

DefeXtiles

DefeXtiles is a technique for producing thin, flexible textiles on standard 3D printers. The method controls under-extrusion so that small globs form with fine strands between them. The resulting periodic gaps give the printed fabric a textile-like appearance, breathability, flexibility and stretch, even with rigid materials such as polylactic acid. The textiles are printed perpendicular to the print bed, so pleated and curved forms can be made. Applications include garments, tangible interfaces and shuttlecocks. Conductive filament can embed circuit traces in the fabric.

Sprout 3D Printed Bicycle

Sprout

Sprout is a bicycle produced by three-dimensional printing. The frame is shaped through topology optimization, which places material only where it is needed and lowers the total amount used. Static stress analysis with the finite element method verifies the stability of the frame structure. The final model is printed in high density nylon. The bicycle measures 1630 mm in length, 600 mm in width and 832 mm in height. Printing removes the need for costly molds, so each frame can follow an individual design.

Yinyun Ceramic 3D Print Art Installation

Yinyun

Yinyun is a ceramic art installation composed of 85 unique 3D printed units. Generative design algorithms were used to extract electric data and to visualize the data on every unit, together creating a gradient effect. The units were fabricated by ceramic 3D printing, using a mixture of white porcelain and coal ash recycled from a power plant. The printing process also creates a detailed surface relief on each piece. No two units are alike. The installation is permanently placed in an exhibition hall in Taipei, Taiwan.

LumiBee Resin 3D Printer

LumiBee

LumiBee is a compact resin 3D printer designed for home use. The printer uses light curable liquid resin and the screen of a mobile phone, which is inserted inside the device, as the light source. A control application slices the digital model into horizontal sections that are shown on the screen, and the light solidifies the resin layer by layer. About 95 percent of the parts of LumiBee can be produced with a low cost filament 3D printer. The structure is modular, and each segment has a specific function and can be customized.
