Slow Seating: Contemporary Chinese Design in Tortona Milan Design Week 2012.

All this happened (more or less) as they ushered in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Rho / Pero (Mi) and the exhibition "Slow Seating: Contemporary Chinese Design", in Zona Tortona. Over 60 works collected by the curator of the exhibition, Zhu Xiaojie, vice chairman of China Furniture Design Committee and president of Shanghai Furniture Design Committee, to launch a message taste reconciling: the world beyond the prejudices of furniture industry in China.

Village Mountains
In the spring of 2012, the annual Milan Design Week will be opened. The top Chinese furniture brand CAMERICH will attend the event with its concept product named “Village Mountains”. At the INTERNI LEGACY Exhibition, CAMERICH will share with the international famous designers its exploration into new design trends and notions.

He and Zhang Mu Oian | Book Chair
The goal is clear: to entice people to read while sitting at rest. Book Chair focuses on the combination of the two functions of display and storage of books. The structure of the Book Chair is inspired by the play of cardboard constructions, easier to assemble and work than circular shapes.

Unveiled at Milan Design Week 2012, Chinese architect Zhang Ke, Sinuous curves evoke the imagery of the western mountain landscape forming the seat-backs and separate niches for diverse seating experiences. Derived from ancient Chinese tales of the water dragon, the form of the piece represents a physical interpretation of the dragons’ usually invisible movement.

Bruce Liu | Bodhidharma – saddle chair
Bruce Liu is drawn from the analysis of categories of a 'new wisdom of the East ". The designer follows a "storyline" that represents a link between different cultures, and not merely spread only "Chinese elements". A lexicon chosen to elicit different reactions and reflections in each party.

Zhang Lei | Piao-Paper Chair
The Chair Piao was exposed at Wuhao Design Week 2012. The chair is made with layers of paper glued to one another - the technique used traditionally in China to create paper umbrellas.

Coin Chair
Zhu Xiaojie (Xiaojie study) has created the Coin Chair. Light and elegant, inspired by the circular of the Ming Dynasty chairs and expresses the ancient Chinese philosophy of "esteno circular four-sided".

Harmony sofa series
Utilising acrylic plastic, wood and upholstery, this mix-and-match from the organic ER series designed by Wen Miao offers a real/surreal sensibility. There’s a long history of “ponderings on the object” in Chinese scholarly pursuits. There are designers trying to reconnect with that by reinserting philosophy into design.

In words of Mr. Zhu, whom selected over 60 Chinese designers to reflect upon the significance of the chair, theme of the exhibition, as an object apt for meditation & rest. “Chairs are symbols of “home”.

Feng Liu is known for its playful approach to the design and creation of 'sculptures' interiors. He coined the word 'Kidult', a contraction of 'kid' boy 'adult', which emphasizes the importance of rediscovering the innocence of children and their simple pleasures.

The surface of the 'three-legged stool' is made of durable trunks and processed according to traditional techniques, to maintain the original feel and spirit of the trunk.The work is made by combining techniques of metalworking. This combination is intended to allow a debate on the tactile and visual perceptions, on the scale, technique, time and quality, so as to convey the philosophy and attitude to life Touchfeeling.

Yun - From Yuhang
The Yun by Yuhang tray is made with bamboo paper from the Yuhang province in China (the same place where the design company is based) following an ancient production process. The rigid shape has been achieved using the natural qualities of the bamboo fiber without any additives.
