During Salone del Mobile, design spreads through the city of Milan, creating the Fuorisalone. Some neighborhoods of Milan have a crucial role in this exhibition and become a landmark: Lambrate, Tortona, Brera.

Thomas Vailly and Laura Lynn Jansen create these three lights which by their shape and their inside geometries make you think of a clock. The colors used are soft and help you reach a quiet serenity. Sound Wave is one of the most interesting projects on display in the Milan Politecnico. It is a space dedicated to music consisting in 5 curved profiles benches similar to waves. The seats have different sizes and shapes, the highest curve in each of them contains a swaying hammock generating a mild and soothing sound. This allow to create harmony and peace in places which are full of chaos.

Another great project elaborated by Milan Politecnico concerns all the facilities for which a lot of time and money have been spent but which have been abbandoned, called “the contemporary ruins”. One of them was for the Galfa Torre in Milan, which might go back now to new life.

The design can be found in anything around us. The parquet shown in this photo is called field of daisies by the author Alessia. This gorgeous pattern makes it possible to have in our homes both art and nature; it connects us to art, through the image of the rose-window belonging to the Gothic period, and to nature through the daisies, the flowers most often seen.

Another example of lamp exposed by Giopato and Coombes takes up the idea of soap bubbles as metaphor of the inconsistency of light. The beauty, the lightness and the elegance of soap bubbles inspired designers in creating a lamp which could reproduce that perfect moment when the flying soap bubbles meet clashing.

Robert Bronwasser seeks to achieve a specific purpose through his creations, the smile. The kitchen ladles that seem suspended are actually in that the position thanks to a simple magnet attached to the shelf or to the ladle handle. This queer idea is thus able to meet the author's purpose and snatch a smile.
