Label Design Competition by WorldLabel

Label Design Competition by WorldLabel

WorldLabel presents the Mason Jar Design Competition for Jar Labels, free to join for all participants.

To take part in this competition, all you need to do is to download jar label templates images from worldlabel.com and design labels that could fit these templates. At www.worldlabel.com/Pages/jar.htm you can find some examples of the templates and a few examples of designs that has already been done which could be used for inspiration.
WorldLabel manufacture and supply more than 100 sizes in 30 different materials you can use to design the label of your jars. You can use all different size labels for your jars designs including round and oval labels, rectangular and square, small sizes and on and on. Thus, you have a lot to choose from, not just for the size but also color.
WorldLabel Jar labels are available in a variety of colors and finishings such as white matte, glossy white, colors, clear, weatherproof, foil and more. You can use all these different jar labels for your design of candle jars, spice jars, and canning jars. Round labels will work as lid labels for all your mason jars including Balls, Weck and other manufacturers.
The competition requires that you download or use some of the predefined jar stickers, to customize the jar label stickers in a way that it looks great if not fantastic. From the jar selection page you can download templates, this is great if you want to import to a computer software to design your jars or if you wish to print and design on the templates and later scan them.

Anyways, after choosing and downloading the right jar label templates, it is time to work hard. Design a label for preservatives, jams, storage, sauces, cookie mix, candy, honey or anything you would like to do with Mason Jars using the sticker jar label templates provided. You are not restricted by any software, you can even draw yourself.
After you draw your templates, it is time to prepare a presentation. If you could for example turn your design into downloadable templates or use photoshop or other software to present the labels on actual jar bars (you could actually print your jar label designs and take photos of them in your kitchen etc as well), this would more likely to give you additional bonuses.
You can save images as PNG, GIF or JPEG files. Send them as an email to worldlabel@gmail.com with subject Mason Jar Design Competition. Include your name and country, the manufacturers name of the jars you used and any other information you would like in the email. You can send many different photos or images of your design, so do not worry about number of files.
To remind you the rules are quite straightforward. Use any size blank jar labels from Worldlabel (www.worldlabel.com/Pages/jar.htm) or other label manufacturers, even plain paper and glue. Entries must be genuine and original work of participants. Special consideration will be given to detail with an emphasis on branding. Submitting labels as a printable in a PDF template for download on our blog is also a plus.
What will you win by entering this design contest? 1st prize: Macbook Pro 13″ with a Retina Display (Wow!),
2nd prize: $100 gift certificate and
3rd prize: $50 gift certificate. So there will be only 3 winners, but the award prize is highly appealing! It is great for all designers who would like to demonstrate their creativity and get recognition for their work.
Who will judge your work? 1. Kim Demmon of Today’s Creative Blog & InspirationDIY.com where she spreads DIY inspiration. Kim is the “Creative Expert” on Portland’s top rated TV morning show AMNW. The jury is quite good and relevant, so you know your entries will be judged fairly. It is important to note that All entries will be displayed on the Mason Jar Label Design Contest page at blog.worldlabel.com and will be licensed: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported
What does this mean? It means, the organizers will be publishing ALL (good) entries regardless of award status, good to now in advance! But also could be useful for some designers for further publicity and reach of their work. Organizers will be able to share, copy and redistribute your work and you cannot revoke this.
But the organizers will give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. And also the organizer will not use the material for commercial purposes (perhaps the winning entries will be used you might ask them). Organizers will also not change or update your work.
Eligibility Conditions: The Mason Jar Label Organizing Contest is open to to everyone WorldWide. Employees (and their immediate families) of Worldlabel.com and its subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, advertising agencies, and persons living in the same household as such employees are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
Legal: Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law. The Contest begins on day this post is published. Entries must be received by midnight USA Eastern Standard time on May 12, 2014 to be eligible. So you must join before the deadline, or your entry will not be eligible for prize consideration.
In summary, it looks like a great design contest to take part, it is very easy to participate, download label templates, customize them (or make your own), then present them nicely as templates or print, cut and glue them on jars and take a photo. Send your entries by email to organizer and wait for results. Very easy and could take about half a day of work! Great for some creative time.
It could also be a great family time opportunity, take part in this competition by helping your kids, or your mother! Ask how they would want to see the perfect jar label to be. Get feedback from the masters of kitchen (mothers) about their preferences, or simply indulge in your creativity to design something very unique.
Enter the competition by May 12, 2014. Do not submit the last minute so that you can ensure your entries are received on time, my suggestion is that you enter on May 10 by latest, so you could have chance to confirm if organizers received your entries on time. The competition organizers are worldlabel.com and they are in business for over a decade.
